About SafelyYou
SafelyYou’s passionate mission is to empower safer, more person-centered care across senior living through world-leading AI, industry-changing hardware, and remote expert clinicians, significantly improving outcomes for residents while increasing peace of mind for families and reducing costs for communities.
Originating in 2015 as the doctoral research of CEO George Netscher—and inspired by his own family's experience with Alzheimer's disease—SafelyYou was spun out of UC Berkeley’s Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, one of the top five AI research groups in the world. And today, our company is solving critical challenges in senior living, from resident falls and ER visits to staffing concerns, length of stay, and NOI. All helping ensure that communities can focus on improved care for residents while still reaching their financial goals.
SafelyYou is one of five most innovative fall technologies referenced in the Senate Falls Report (2019), a winner of the McKnight’s Tech Partner of the Year, and has been named to Fortune’s Impact 20 list, which recognizes companies making people’s lives better through innovation.
Your Role at SafelyYou
In senior living, care is mostly reactive: a change in a resident's needs is often noticed only after a fall, an elopement, or a hospitalization. SafelyYou sees changes in activity, mobility, sleep, and routine that no one else can by using its own data and data from a broad range of integrations. Your mission is to turn those signals into decisions care teams act on, shifting them from reacting to preventing.
This is a 0→1 role. You own the customer outcome for proactive care from validated problem to commercial product, and you keep it through every stage gate. You don't own the models: our AI & Intelligence platform provides the signals, and you define what care teams need from them and how good is good enough. You'll work closely with AI, design, engineering, our clinical team, and Customer Success.
Key Responsibilities:
The Numbers You'll Own
A validated product in the market. Proactive care in alpha or beta with design-partner communities within the next year.
Earlier detection. A baseline and first improvement in the share of meaningful changes caught before an adverse event.
Faster action. A baseline and first improvement in time from change to caregiver action, with precision targets agreed with our clinical team.
What You'll Own
Discovery. Uncover needs across executive directors, wellness directors, caregivers, and clinical staff, and test concepts with care staff before committing engineering.
MVPs and stage gates. Define MVPs, run alpha and beta programs, and set clear exit criteria at each gate.
Insight to action. Design intervention workflows that fit caregiver routines, including inside EHR and eCall systems.
Signal quality. Favor precision over volume, never overclaim certainty, and augment clinical judgment rather than replace it.
Privacy and dignity. Respect resident privacy, consent, and dignity in every workflow.
The business case. Link interventions to fewer hospitalizations, lower liability, longer length of stay, and addressable care gaps, then take proven bets to expansion with Sales and Customer Success.
The Ideal Candidate:
The hard requirement: you've taken a product (not a feature) from 0→1 to commercial adoption. Former founders are welcome; this matters more than years (typically 6+ in product or equivalent).
Experience building for clinical, caregiving, or other high-stakes operational workflows.
Data and ML literacy, including precision/recall tradeoffs, and the ability to make signals clear to non-technical users.
A bias for prototyping and testing with real users early.
Commercial acumen: you tie outcomes to ROI for enterprise buyers.
Strongly preferred: senior living or post-acute experience, a clinical background, or EHR-integrated products
Salary Range: $220,000 - $240,000 USD / $200,000 - $220,000 CAD commensurate with experience
