And today, our company is solving critical challenges in senior living, from resident falls and ER visits to staffing concerns, length of stay, and NOI. All helping ensure that communities can focus on improved care for residents while still reaching their financial goals.
SafelyYou is one of five most innovative fall technologies referenced in the Senate Falls Report (2019), a winner of the McKnight’s Tech Partner of the Year, and has been named to Fortune’s Impact 20 list, which recognizes companies making people’s lives better through innovation.
Your Role at SafelyYou
We are looking for an analytical and process-minded Accounting Associate to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate brings independent judgment to financial operations, exercises discretion in vendor and compliance matters, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, this role owns key accounting functions and contributes directly to the integrity of our financial close process.
Role Overview
The Accounting Associate is a key participant in our day-to-day accounting operations with a high degree of autonomy. This is an exempt, salaried role suited to someone who can assess situations, apply policy with judgment, and escalate only what genuinely requires senior input. You will be a functional expert in our AP, reconciliation, and expense cycles — and a trusted voice in improving how those processes work.
The expected salary range for this role is between $60,000 and $70,000.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable
Manage the full AP cycle in Ramp with a high degree accuracy — including vendor onboarding decisions, bill review and approval routing, and payment timing judgments within established thresholds
Evaluate vendor documentation (W9s, contracts, invoices) for completeness and compliance, resolving discrepancies with vendors directly without routine escalation
Assess and determine appropriate account coding for complex or ambiguous transactions, applying accounting judgment to coding decisions across departments
Identify and flag vendor billing irregularities, apply independent analysis to determine whether deviations require escalation or can be resolved at the associate level
Corporate Card & Expense Management
Exercise discretion in reviewing corporate card transactions and expense reports, making independent determinations on policy compliance and exception approvals within defined limits
Interpret and apply IRS reimbursement rules and company travel and expense policy, educating employees on requirements and resolving ambiguous situations without routine management involvement
Identify patterns of non-compliance or systemic issues in expense submissions and recommend policy or process improvements to the Senior Accounting Manager
Month-End Close & Reconciliations
Own monthly bank and credit card reconciliations for all accounts — identifying root causes of discrepancies, determining corrective action, and executing resolution.
Contribute to month-end close deliverables by preparing journal entries, supporting schedules, and accruals within scope
Maintain reconciliation documentation to audit-ready standards and proactively identify areas where controls could be strengthened
Process & Compliance
Exercise judgment in interpreting accounting policies and procedures, determining when situations fall within policy parameters versus when escalation to the Controller is warranted
Audit preparation for assigned areas — organizing documentation and ensuring completeness without needing management to direct each step
Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and bring forward recommendations with supporting rationale
Cross-Functional Partnership
Coordinate with the People Ops, Legal, and Finance teams on vendor and employee reimbursement matters, representing accounting requirements and resolving issues at the associate level
The Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Associate's degree with 3+ years of directly relevant experience considered
3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated responsibility for independent judgment in AP, reconciliation, or close processes
Strong command of accounting principles and the ability to apply them to novel or ambiguous situations — not just established workflows
Experience determining the right course of action in policy gray areas, with a track record of sound independent decisions
Proficiency in Ramp; strong working knowledge of Google Sheets/Excel
Clear written and verbal communication — able to represent accounting positions to non-accounting stakeholders
An expert level of attention to detail combined with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy
