Your Role at SafelyYou
At SafelyYou, we believe our people power everything we do. We’re looking for a Payroll & Compensation Specialist who brings deep expertise in payroll operations, compliance, and compensation strategy. This role goes beyond processing payroll, you’ll play a key part in ensuring accurate pay, maintaining compliance across the U.S. and Canada, and supporting data-driven compensation decisions through benchmarking and analysis.
You’ll partner closely with People, Finance and leadership to ensure our compensation practices are competitive, equitable, and scalable as we grow.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end payroll across multi-state U.S. employees and Canadian workforce
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, provincial, and local regulations
Oversee registrations, filings, reporting requirements, and audits
Stay ahead of regulatory changes and proactively implement updates
Ensure accurate, timely payroll processing across all employee populations
Identify and implement process improvements to scale payroll efficiently
Partner with external vendors (EOR providers) to ensure seamless execution
Leverage compensation benchmarking tools (Pave and others) to assess market competitiveness
Support development and maintenance of salary bands and compensation structures
Analyze internal vs. external pay data to inform compensation strategy and adjustments
Partner with leadership to ensure equitable and market aligned pay practices
Own reporting across salary, bonus, and equity programs
Ensure integrity and accuracy of compensation data across systems
Build insights that inform workforce planning, hiring, and retention strategies
Calculate and administer bonus and incentive compensation programs
Partner with People and Finance on payout execution and modeling
Maintain equity tracking, reporting, and coordination with external partners
Administer and optimize compensation platforms (Pave)
Ensure accurate configuration, data governance, and reporting capabilities
Improve workflows across payroll, HRIS, and compensation systems
The Ideal Candidate:
Strong experience managing multi-state U.S. payroll and Canadian payroll
Deep understanding of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and compliance
Hand -on experience with compensation benchmarking tools
Proven ability to build and analyze salary bands, pay structures, and market data
Experience supporting compensation cycles, including merit, promotions, and bonuses
Highly data driven with strong attention to accuracy and detail
Comfortable working with large datasets and translating insights into action
Experience collaborating with People, Finance, and leadership teams
Able to explain compensation and payroll concepts clearly to non-experts
Experience with payroll systems
Experience with HRIS and compensation platforms (Pave preferred)
Nice to Have:
Certification in payroll (e.g., CPP, CPP Canada)
Experience with international payroll compliance
HRIS and compensation system administration experience
